Group Cooking at the Long Beach House

Group Volunteers consist of groups of families, friends, corporations, civic or religious groups and lead an array of activities for the families staying at the Long Beach Ronald McDonald House.

Feast from the Heart

The meals you provide are an act of kindness that brings love into the House. Groups of up to 12 people choose a menu, purchase the ingredients, and prepare a meal in our full-service kitchen, allowing exhausted and overwhelmed families the opportunity to find nourishment and comfort in a home-cooked meal. Breakfast is served daily at 9:00 am, lunch is served at 12:00 pm and dinner is served daily at 6:00 pm.

Qualifications: Show off your creativity and cooking skills. We supply the kitchen and equipment, your group just needs to bring the ingredients. All food must be prepared and cooked on site or brought directly from a commercial retail kitchen. Maximum of 12 volunteers, including chaperones.

McBakers Program

Bring your love and your recipes to bake up treats for the House. Groups of up to 12 can come together to create delicious baked goods for our families. This is a great volunteer opportunity for young volunteers such as scout troops, sports teams or school service clubs!

Qualifications: Enjoy being creative and baking! We supply the kitchen and equipment, your group just needs to bring the ingredients. All baked goods must be prepared on site or brought directly from a commercial retail kitchen. Maximum of 12 volunteers, including chaperones.

  • Minimum Age: 5+ with adult supervision - 1 adult per 1 youth volunteers ages 5-9, and 1 adult per 5 youth volunteers ages 10-15.

Wish List Drive

Help support the families staying with us by soliciting items that we are in need of around the House. This is a great volunteer opportunity for those who students needing service hours, scout troops, high school clubs, etc.

Qualifications: Simply collect items from our wish list and drop them off at the House from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Please click on our <Wish List> for our current needs

Pop Tab Collection

Pop tabs remind us of an important lesson: even little things make a big difference. Pop tabs help us raise funds to help offset costs for families staying with us.

Qualifications: Ask your friends at school, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, youth groups, sports teams, neighbors, relatives and co-workers to help save tabs. From first graders to grandparents, anyone can get in on the action.

Cleaning Project

Help us maintain an inviting environment for the families staying at the Long Beach Ronald McDonald House. A cleaning project is a day of service that can help create peace of mind for our families by helping to keep the House clean and organized.

Qualifications: Heart to help the families staying at the House! We supply the cleaning products, gloves and tools needed. Groups will clean communal spaces of the House, for example: the kitchen, children’s room, garage, or backyard.

Maximum of 12 volunteers, including chaperones.

  • Minimum Age: 13+ with adult supervision – 1 adult per 5 youth volunteers

Family Activity Project

This is for a group that is interested in interacting with the families that are staying at the House. Family Activity Projects are all about bringing the families of the House together for a couple hours of fun!

Qualifications: There is no limit to what this opportunity can be. Popular activities in the past have been BINGO Night, Cupcake Decorating, Movie Night, Ice Cream Social, etc. Creativity is key for this volunteer opportunity.

Special Event Volunteer Information

Each year, hundreds of people support the Long Beach Ronald McDonald House when they attend one of our special events. Volunteers play a pivotal role in making sure each event runs smoothly and our guests have an enjoyable experience. If it weren't for the volunteer help we receive, these events would not be possible. We welcome individual volunteers as well as groups. If you, your family, classmates or team are interested in making a difference, please consider helping at one of these special events:

Volunteers are needed in the area of setup, registration, greeters, auction assistants, check-out, break down and more.
