2014 was a great year for our group volunteers! We saw a steady increase in participation that directly provided our families with vital services and enjoyable activities to help ease their time while they stayed at the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House.
Volunteer groups come in many shapes and sizes, from large corporations providing a Day of Service to a group of friends who are looking to give back. No matter the size or type of group that so generously spends their time with us, they provide our families with vital services that make us more than just a house. They make us a home.
Groups volunteering at the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House choose from cooking lunch or dinner for 90 people through our Meal of Love program, hosting an activity, or committing to an entire Day of Service, which includes hosting a meal, hosting an activity, and assisting with beautification projects! This is no easy feat as the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House has 2 buildings, 75 rooms and over 80,000 square feet.
In 2014 we had five Days of Service provided by Azstrazeneca, Enterprise, Ernst & Young, Los Angeles City Employees Retirement System, and Wilshire Baptist Church. We hosted an additional 175 groups throughout the year, providing 291 meals and 115 activities for our families. This totals over 15,000 volunteer hours and over half a million dollars in donated volunteer hours and in-kind donations!
We are so grateful to every organization, corporation, and former family who comes to our house and shares their time and talent with our families to give them a moment of respite during an extremely trying time. Thank you to all who have visited us in 2014. We welcome you and any new volunteers to visit us again in 2015!
