We are ecstatic to announce that we exceeded our goal of $300,000! We could not have done it without the help of our volunteers, sponsors, and 2,500 walkers. Thank you all for making this such a fantastic and meaningful event. We are already excited for next year!
On April 9, 2,500 walkers entered the Honda Center to celebrate the Orange County Ronald McDonald House for our annual Walk For Kids 5K. With the excitement in the air, no one would have guessed it was 6 a.m. Kids Zone and Walker Village opened! The Kids Zone was full of families enjoying a rock wall, face painting, balloon animals, reptiles from Prehistoric Pets, OC Martial Arts and more!
The Anaheim Ducks street team hosted activities including a fun game of street hockey. Delicious smells filled the air thanks to the popcorn, cotton candy, and funnel cakes. Over in Walker Village, tasty snacks were provided by Wholly Guacamole, Nothing Bundt Cakes and of course, refreshing smoothies and coffee sponsored by McDonald's.
Walkers could take pictures with Snoopy, Wiley the Wolf, Wild Wing of the Anaheim Ducks! The lovely Chiquibaby (Telemundo) began our opening ceremonies followed by Stark & OC Martial Arts leading the crowd in a fun warm-up to get ready for the walk.
We were honored to have youth rock star David Lee sing the national anthem in memory of a special dad and daughter duo we lost in 2017. Mike Scioscia, manager of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, present this year’s awards for categories top fundraising teams and individuals. Walkers heard from the Carmichael family about the impact the Orange County Ronald McDonald House made on their life which allowed everyone to reflect on the way it has impacted their own lives. Chiquibaby got everyone pumped up and ready to race as she led them over to the starting line and kicked off the walk.
