Top fundraisers Kidz For A Cause

Under the direction and support of mother-daughter duo, Cathy, and Nicki Lee, our small but mighty crew of kids closed out their first KFAC year raising over $37,000 for our House.

In July of last year, we were fortunate enough to meet an amazing mother-daughter duo -Cathy and Nicki Lee from Oahu, HI. When Nicki was in the third grade, she decided to put on a concert as her community service project. She sold tickets and raised slightly over $1,000 for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Hawaii.

Three years later, she gathered some friends and decided to put on another concert, that concert raised over $10,000. These concerts kept getting bigger and bigger and in 2016, her concert raised over $100,000 for the Friends of the Children’s Justice Center of Oahu. But Nicki didn’t want to stop there. In 2016, she decided to come up with a new idea –ThinkTank: a mega-campaign that inspired Kidz to come up with their own creative FUNraisers for the chosen non-profit. ThinkTank raised over $300,000!

Now in her Senior year, Nicki decided to take her fundraising efforts back to where it started. The Ronald McDonald House Charities. But she also wanted to spread the aloha across the ocean and selected the Orange County Ronald McDonald House as the beneficiary for the first ever Kidz For A Cause (KFAC) California. Under the guidance and support of Nicki and her mom, Cathy, our House took on the challenge and in August rallied all the kids we knew and launched KFAC California.

After six months and numerous micro-fundraisers, our small but mighty crew of kids closed out their first KFAC year raising over $37,000 for our House. We continue to be impressed by the power of kidz and are so grateful to Nicki and Cathy for believing in us and for all the time they invested with our House. We couldn’t have done it without them and are excited to see what the future has in store!
