“I really admired Rich for his tenacity, passion and energy,” said Steve Becker, former senior corporate vice president, Human Resources, GSF, and former president of the Board of Trustees for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Orange County. “He also had a huge heart, and he gave a lot of time to the GSF Foundation, and to the Orange County Ronald McDonald House."

On Tuesday, March 8, the Orange County Ronald McDonald House honored former Golden State Foods associate, Richard Moretti, for his work in helping to establish the GSF Foundation, and for the donations that were received in his name when he passed from pancreatic cancer in 2008.

“I really admired Rich for his tenacity, passion and energy,” said Steve Becker, former senior corporate vice president, Human Resources, GSF, and former president of the Board of Trustees for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Orange County. “He also had a huge heart, and he gave a lot of time to the GSF Foundation, and to RMHC.”

More than $33,000 was donated to the Orange County RMHC in Richard’s name when he passed, and those much-needed funds have helped improve many areas of the house, including:
• Daily wear and tear and ongoing maintenance to ensure that families have care, comfort and support.
• Taxi vouchers for families needing transportation to/from the house and hospital.
• Paying for and accommodating families at nearby hotels when the house is at capacity.
• Maintenance of the Ronald McDonald Family Rooms at CHOC Children’s and CHOC Children’s at Mission Hospital, Orange County.

The house also commemorated Richard’s memory with an inscription on the front door that reads: “Keeping families close since 1989. Celebrating the life of Richard D. Moretti.”

A 28-year GSF associate, Rich served in various positions within the company, including senior vice president and chief financial officer. He helped establish the GSF Foundation, which has raised nearly $37 million for more than 600 children’s charities in the U.S. Rich also served as a member of the Foundation’s board of directors.
